3 Reasons Why Spring Airsoft guns are Powerful and Awesome

People often disregard spring airsoft guns because they classify them as toys that can not compare with gas or electricity-powered guns, and this certainly does not have to be the case. Many spring guns can outshine gas airsoft guns and AEGs with ease.

I decided to write about this topic because I have realized that most beginners do not consider spring guns and immediately look for gas and AEG guns because they consider them to be a more reasonable option for their first purchase.

Also, it is common to hear people say that spring guns do not have power so why bother with them?

In the following guide, you will see why you should consider equipping yourself with spring guns whether it Is going to be your first gun or you already have a decent collection.

Bear in mind that the following applies to shotguns and snipers and those toy pistols are not included in the story.

Pistols that have to be manually cocked each time you are about to shoot them, indeed are useless and can be at best used for some target practicing at home but not for competitive use.

Shotguns and snipers are anyways not meant to be automatic and some of the real shotguns and snipers behave similarly, they require the pump or bolt action and therefore airsoft replicas can do a great job at mimicking it without disadvantages.

Therefore spring guns shine when it comes to shotguns and snipers and are anyways not meant to be good as pistols and rifles because such guns must be repetitive by their nature in order to be effective.

Spring Guns are cheaper

The cost of engines, gas chambers, and their mechanism make the guns very expensive to cover the manufacturing expenses.

The spring guns are far easier to construct and require less material and therefore the expenses drop greatly.

Think about the gas that you would have to purchase if you want to rely on a gas gun, they easily overreach the price of the gun itself after a couple of months of intense shooting.

With spring guns you buy them once for a naturally lower price and do not have to worry about the energy that is going to power it, besides your own calories that you put in your body through cereals and milk.

Cheaper also does not equal worse. Spring guns are cheaper primarily because of the expenses that have to go into the manufacturing processes.

Some awesome shotguns can be found at the price of $50 and more and awesome sniper rifles at the price of $110+ and these guns can compete with twice as much-priced gas counterparts.

Such a $110 sniper has a muzzle velocity of 450-500 FPS measured with a 0.20 g BB.

There are even a few cheaper shotguns that can be found below the price of $50 and can still reach 300 fps with 0.20 g BB and be effective at close range both as primary or secondary weapons.

Snipers require good accuracy and power in order to reach the target at long distances, therefore you can expect to spend more with upgrades or a slightly more pricey model than $110, but such budget non-upgraded spring snipers can be a good pick for beginners and later upgraded for more power and accuracy.

Gas sometimes adds more power to the gun and can make it more effective at really long distances, however it should not be an immediate switch in your head that is going to rush you into getting one.

Spring Guns are reliable

If it makes you worry less about charging it with gas it makes life easier, especially for beginners.

You do not have to worry whether you have enough gas before you go to shoot your spring gun and it also makes it easier to carry stuff around.

Only the spring toys that can be found at the price of $10 are made of cheap plastics, the rest of the competitive spring airsoft guns like the ones that I have recently mentioned are crafted out of high-quality plastics or other materials like metal and sometimes wood.

If you get the inner parts of your gun wet they are not going to start malfunctioning as could be the case with AEG’s sensitive electric components.

Because they are really simple from within, they are known to be very reliable on the field and are often used as a second weapon in case the AEGs or some gas guns stop working, because the show must go on.

Spring Guns can be both effective and powerful

As mentioned spring snipers reach 500 fps and shotguns reach 300 fps for reasonable prices they serve the purpose on the fields greatly.

Bolt action spring snipers are used from a smart position where you do not need to shoot multiple times to take down your enemies, they do not produce much sound either and are light and smooth with great accuracy and power depending on the model you choose.

Pump action shotguns can be chosen if you do not want to be the team’s sniper and would rather get in action sooner than later.

On long ranges, you will have a difficult time defeating AEGs but if they get close to you they will suffer.

I prefer the 3-round shotguns that simultaneously shoot 3 BBs and the 300 fps and make it difficult for anyone to escape from that.

Therefore, you can use a shotgun as both a primary gun and a secondary, backup gun.

Shotguns are great whenever the field allows you to use them and often they are the great pick for Close quarter combat scenarios.

Bear in mind that you can always upgrade your spring guns and make them even scarier for the enemy team.

I have created a list of some great airsoft shotguns that fit the budget of $50, you can check it out here.

Can a Spring Airsoft Gun be automatic?

There are no spring guns that are automatic and all spring guns require a manual set up.

Spring guns are not meant to be automatic and you shall avoid all spring guns that imitate pistols and rifles that rely on having a steady repetitive fire in order to be effective.

The best thing that you can do with spring pistols competitively is to shoot cans or empty bottles of milk in your backyard if that makes you happy. However, someone may prove me wrong and obliterate me next weekend with a springer, so if you are a natural born airsoft player perhaps all you need is a solid spring pistol.

How do the Spring Airsoft Guns work?

Spring guns work by relying on the elastic energy that is stored within a compressed coil spring.

When manually cocked such energy is converted and upon the trigger pull the energy is released.

The energy then pressurizes the air within the pump cylinder to blow the pellets through the gun barrel.

Conclusion

Do not underestimate the power and potential of the spring airsoft guns. They are a great option for beginners and experienced players and at least one shotgun should make it in your arsenal.

However, the beauty of this sport is in its diversity and there are so many cool things that can be found on the market worth trying, spring guns are just one of them. Go explore it and have a good time on your next airsoft game!
